First of all, it may be the one place in the world where you feel safer than anywhere else, but beds have the potential to be nothing short of deadly. Of course, there are obvious cases of bed-related fatalities that immediately spring to mind – those with sleep apnoea, people with heart conditions, houses falling down in the middle of the night and so on. But even outside these, no less than 450 people are killed every year simply having fallen out of bed. That’s 450 deaths that could easily be prevented by new rules, regulations and laws on the safety and distribution of beds – it’ll be a cold day in hell before this happens though, of course.
