If you don’t mind coming out with a seriously disappointing batch of whatever, then feel free to follow this rule to the letter. Contrary to popular belief however, it never has been and never will be the right way of cooking up anything whatsoever with weed. The reason being that in order for THC to do its stuff, it needs to be activated. Or in other words, it needs to be heated sufficiently to trigger decarboxylating – the process that turns THCa into THC. When you smoke cannabis, this process happens the moment you set light to it and thus gives you a heft blast of high-juice. When you eat cannabis, you need to make sure that the THC has been activated in a different way – namely heating it and extracting it into oil or butter. As such, throwing bud into anything simply isn’t a good idea. Instead, knock up a batch of cannabis oil or butter first and use this in your recipes.
