If it’s an option, one of the best ways of riding out an uncomfortable high is simply to go to sleep. Chances are that you will be zonked out so long that by the time you wake up, you will feel much better. You might have seriously freaky dreams, but it’s hardly the end of the world. By contrast, if it is fundamentally impossible for you to get any sleep in your current state, try simply lying down in a calm and quiet place where you feel safe and cosy. Just keep reminding yourself that a couple of hours down the line, you’ll be right as rain again.
